René Magritte was a Belgian surrealist artist born in 1898. He was influenced greatly by Sigmund Freud, whose conceptions are translated in Magritte’s thought provoking images. His modern approach begged that questions be asked, that dreams be examined – all to bring more understanding to the world in which we live in. Amusing and original, there is no mistaking the wittiness embedded in Magritte’s top hats, crescent moons and silhouettes. This artwork makes for a trendy piece of decor that is spirited with history from the early 19th century.
